DIALOGUE WRITING

The purpose of dialogue writing is to enable a student to develop the given input in a grammatically correct and meaningful conversation. While writing the sentences, one must take care to avoid errors and ensure that the following grammatical elements are kept in mind:
 
• Tense
• Subject- verb agreement
• Sentence connectors
• Appropriate punctuation
• Sentence form- statement or interrogative
• Correct use of imperatives

Dialogue Writing

Dialogue writing is a very important part of English writing. Basically dialogue is a conversation between two or more people. In fiction, it is a verbal conversation between two or more conversation.
Sometimes it is a self-talking dialogue, they are known as a Monologue.

Example of dialogue writing

Question. Write a conversation or dialogue between Father and Son regarding the career of the son after passing his Sr. Secondary examination. The opening sentences have been given below. Complete the dialogue in your own words.
Father : Splendid performance in the Board. What options have you for higher studies?
Son : Thanks. With your blessings, I’ve got 98 percent.
Answer. Father : I know it is a splendid performance. I also know that engineering is your first choice. Isn’t it?
Son : I’m happy that you know my choice.
Father : Your first choice should be to crack the IIT test.
Son : That’s my dream. Your blessings are with me.
Father : God is great. He will reward your efforts.
Son : Let’s hope so. But I have an alternative plan too.
Father : What’s that son?
Son : I have applied for all the leading engineering colleges. Computer Science is my first choice.
Father : That’s quite sensible. It will fetch you a good job in any MNCs.

Question. Complete the dialogue between the SHO of police station and a resident whose pocket was picked while he was travelling by bus. The opening sentences have been given below. Write at least six responses.

Answer. Resident : I’m a resident of Kirti Nagar, Delhi. My pocket was picked today in the morning.
