Every year under the guidance of Joint Admission Board (JAB) the seven zonal Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) conduct a Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) examination. The performance of the candidates appearing in this examination forms the basis on which the admission to various Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s and Dual Degree programs (entry at the 10+2 level) in the sixteen IITs and the Indian School of Mines (ISM) is granted to the students. On the basis of the JEE (Advanced) examinations the candidates get admission in any of the sixteen IITs and the Indian School of Mines (ISM). It’s a matter of great prestige for the candidates to get admission in such institutes which helps them to shape their career and life.
The JEE (Advanced) examination comprises of two papers, i.e Paper 1 and Paper 2 and each paper is of 3 hours duration and is held every year during the last week of May. Both the papers are conducted on the same day as per the following schedule:
Time Paper 1 09:00 to 12:00 IST Paper 2 14:00 to 17:00 IST
Both the papers are compulsory.
If the candidate is using the scribe service then the candidate will get one hour extra time i.e., the end time will be 13:00 IST for Paper 1 and 18:00 IST for Paper 2.
Generally the examination board doesn’t change dates after announcing the dates.
