Ans. Let the number be x. then, as per question, we have.

2x = x+8

2x-x = 8

X = 8

Thus, the required number is 8

(D)Think of a number which can be divide by 2, 3 and 5 and comes between 25 and 50.

Ans. A number which can be divided by 2, 3 and 5 and comes between 25 and 50 is 30. Because the required number must be divisible by, i.e., 30, and 30 is the only number between 25 and 50 which is divisible by 30.

(E)A small ant climbs 3 cm in 1 minute but slips down 2 cm. How much time will it take to climb 2 cm?

Ans. Let us represent this problem by a diagram.

Clearly, it takes 2 minutes to climb 2 cm.

OR

Net height attained in 1 minute = (3 -2) cm = 1 cm

Therefore, 2 cm height will be attained in 2 minutes.

Ans. Total amount paid for the motor-boat and the oar-boat by Indra and Bhanu

Ans. Total charges paid= Rs. 450

Charges for one child= Rs. 30

Therefore, number of children who went for the double-decker trip

=450 ÷ 30 = 15

Ans. Time taken for one trip = 1 x 60 minutes ÷ 2 

= (600 ÷ 2)minutes
