Batting for the Bat This is the international year of the Bat. We do not know much about the Bats. It is appropriate to get to know about these nocturnal creatures. They are found throughout the world except the Arctic and Antarctic Islands. Did you know that the bats spread seeds far and wide? Bats also eat harmful insects and thereby reducing the spread of harmful diseases. Bats are mostly black or brown in colour. They can also be bright orange, yellow, silver, white and grey. A Bat’s house is called roost. They do not make nest like a bird or burrow like a snake. There are two kinds of Bats__ fruit Bats and insect Bats. Fruit bats’ family Is called Megachiroptera meaning large. Fruit Bats are also called as flying foxes. Insectivorous Bats’ family is called Micro__ Hiropetera.
