II Read the following passage and answer the questions given below:

In 1905, a star was born in Prayag, near Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh. He was named Dhyan Singh. His father, Sumeshwar Dutt, a Subedar in the Army, finally settled down in Jhansi. Here young Dhyan Singh learnt to play hockey, a game in which he so visibly impressed the army coach and his father’s colleagues with his skills, that they predicted a bright future for the boy and so nicknamed him ‘Chand’ or Moon.

When Dhyan Chand joined the army at the age of 17, he had the chance to continue to practice and improve his game. When the army team toured New Zealand in 1926, the 21 year old Dhyan Chand had become its star player. Two year later he was the captain of the Indian team which won the hockey gold medal in the 1928 Olympic Games at Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

Dhyan Chand gave India another gold in the 1932 Olympic. Playing barefoot – at his comfortable best – Dhyan Chand scored 6 goals to help India beat Germany 8-1.
