6. A student calculates that the probability of his winning the first prize in a lottery is 0.08. If 6000 tickets are sold, how many tickets has he bought?
 
7. A game consists of tossing a one rupee coin three times and noting its outcome each time. David wins if all the tosses give the same result, i.e., three heads or three tails and loses otherwise. Calculate the probability that David will lose the game.
 
8. What is the probability of selecting (i) R from ‘UNNECESSARY’ and (ii) N from the same word?
 
9. If a number x is chosen at random from the numbers -2 , -1, 0, 1, 2. What is the probability that x2≤ 1?
 
10. A pair of dice is thrown once. Find the probability of getting the same number on each dice.
 
11. A coin is tossed. If it results in a head, again a coin is tossed. Otherwise a die is thrown. Write the sample space.
 
12. Find the probability that a card drawn from a pack of 52 cards will be a diamond or a king.
 
13. A letter of English alphabet is chosen at random. Determine the probability that the chosen letter is (i) a consonant and (ii) a vowel.
 
14. King, Queen and Jack of diamonds are removed from a pack of 52 cards and then the pack is wellshuffled. A card is drawn from the remaining cards. Find the probability of getting a card of (i) diamonds and (ii) a Jack.
 
15. A bag contains cards numbered 6 to 50. A card is drawn at random from the bag. Find the probability that a drawn card has a number which is a perfect square.

16. A jar contains 24 marbles out of which some are green and the others are blue. If a marble is drawn at random from the jar, the probability that it is green is 2/3. Find the number of blue marbles in the jar.
 
17. Two different dice are rolled together. Find the probability of getting (i) the sum of numbers on two dice to be 5. (ii) even number on both dice and (iii) product of numbers on both dice is 12.
 
18. A card is drawn at random from a pack of 52 playing cards. Find the probability that the card drawn is neither a jack nor an ace.
 
19. Two coins are tossed simultaneously. Find the probability of getting (i) atmost one head (ii) atleast one tail.and (iii) exactly one head.
 
20. What is the probability that an ordinary year has 53 Tuesdays?

21. A bag contains tickets numbered 11,12,13,14, …., 30. A ticket is taken out from the bag at random. Find the probability that the number on the drawn ticket is (a) a multiple of 7 (b) greater than 15 and a multiple of 5.
 
22. A bag contains 5 white balls, 7 red balls, 4 black balls and 2 blue balls. One ball is drawn at random from the bag. What is the probability that the ball drawn is (a) white or blue (b) not white (c) neither white nor black?
 
23. Seventeen cards numbered 1,2,3, …, 17 are put in a box and mixed thoroughly. One person draws a card from the box. Find the probability that the number on the card is (i) an odd number (ii) a composite number (iii) divisible by 3 or 5 (iv) divisible by both 2 and 3.
 
24. From a group of 2 boys and 3 girls, two children are selected at random. Find the probability (i) both selected children are girls. (ii) the selected group consists of one boy and one girl. (iii) atleast one boy is selected.
 
25. A box contains 90 discs, numbered from 1 to 90. If one disc is drawn at random from the box. Find the probability that it bears (i) a prime number. (ii) not a composite number (iii) an even number and (iv) a perfect cube number.
