Kinds of Sentences-

1. Assertive Sentences- It is also called declarative sentence. It declares, asserts or says something. It ends with a full stop (.). Ex- Jim is my friend.
It has two kinds-
a) Affirmative Sentence- It is also called a Positive Sentence. It is also tells about something. Ex- John is a good singer.
b) Negative Sentence- It denies something. It uses ‘not’. Ex- She is not sleeping.

2. Interrogative Sentence- It asks question. We put a Question mark in the end of an interrogative sentence.
Ex- What is your name?

3. Imperative Sentence- It shows an order, a request or a suggestion.
Ex- a) Stand up. (Order)
b) Please help me. (Request)
c) We should always respect our elders. (Suggestion)

4. Exclamatory Sentences- It expresses some sudden feeling of joy, sorrow or wonder.
We put an exclamation mark(!)in an exclamatory sentence.
Ex- Wow! You are looking very pretty.

5. Optative Sentence- It expresses a wish, a hope or a prayer.
Ex- May you live long!
