Adverb Worksheet for Class 4
o Adverb: An adverb adds something more to the meaning of a verb. The four types of Adverb are:
o Adverbs of manner. Example: neatly, soundly, bravely
o Adverbs of place. Example: everywhere, there, here
o Adverbs of time. Example: daily, tomorrow, before
o Adverbs of frequency. Example: twice, often, never
An adverb is a word that adds meaning to a verb, an adjective or another adverb.
Eg. The sun shone brightly.

There are three main types of adverbs.
Adverbs of Place- These are used to show where something happens.
It answers the question ‘where’
Eg.- above, behind, below, upstairs, outside, near, everywhere
Adverbs of Time- These are used to show when something happens. It answers the question ‘when’
Eg.- soon, later, yesterday, today, often, seldom, never, already, now, then
Adverbs of Manner- These are used to show how something happens.
It answers the questions ‘how’
Eg.- quietly, furiously, helpfully, softly, gently, noisily.
Some adverbs look like adjective. You can tell they are adverbs if they add meaning to verbs, adjective and other adverbs. If they add meaning to a noun, they are adjectives.
Eg.- Wasim Akram is a fast bowler. (adjective)
In this sentence ‘fast’ is telling something more about ‘bowler’, which is a noun. That is why it is an adjective.
