1. Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions:
Nasruddin finished his prayers and started towards home. He saw a beggar sitting on the street asking for alms. Nasruddin asked him, “ Are you extravagant?” The beggar replied in the affirmative. “Do you like to sit sipping coffee and smoking?” was the next question. The beggar replied in the affirmative again. “I think you go to the hamam every day?” “Yes,” replied the beggar. “How about amusement with friends?” asked Nasruddin. “Yes, yes… I like all those things”, the beggar replied. Nasruddin shook his head as he gave him a gold coin. A few steps away, another beggar sat listening to this conversation. He looked hopefully at Nasruddin. A similar question-answer session was repeated and the second beggar proved that he was indeed a pious man. Whereupon, Nasruddin gave him a small copper coin. The second beggar was aghast. “But why a copper coin to me, who is so pious and a gold coin for that one?” “ My friend, “ said Nasruddin , “ his needs are greater than yours.”
