Read the passage carefully and answer the questions that follow :

Kabir is one of the greatest poets and saints ever born in India. Through his poetry, he taught that all human beings are equal. Kabir’s dohas or couplets brim over with love for God. What makes Kabir especially important is that his teachings represent a combination of Hindu and Muslim ideas. Kabir’s poems have influenced people of all faiths. Over five hundred of his poems form a section of the Guru Granth Sahib, the religious book of the Sikhs.

Two poor Muslim weavers, Niru and his wife Nimma, were walking around the Lahara Tala Lake, near the holy city of Varanasi. Suddenly they saw a tiny infant floating on a large lotus leaf in a bed of water lilies. The couple took the little baby home and brought him up as their son. They named him Kabir, meaning the greatest one. Kabir’s guru was a famed saint named Ramanand.

Kabir began to spread the message of love and union with God, and his followers belonged to both religions, Hinduism and Islam. He urged those around him to concentrate on leading a simple life, known as the Sahaj (or natural) path.
