• Time Allowed: Theory - 2 Hours. Practical - 6 Hours, conducted as two 3-hour sessions with a break. • Subject Codes: Painting (049) and Sculpture (051) are separate CBSE subjects; students choose one. They share the same 30-mark "History of Indian Art" theory syllabus, but the 70-mark practical differs - 2D painting composition for Painting, 3D modelling/carving for Sculpture. • Theory Syllabus (30 Marks): Indian miniature painting schools, the Bengal School, Modern Trends in Indian Art, and the Indian National Flag. • Practical Structure (70 Marks): Part I - Nature/Object Study or Still-Life (25 Marks), Part II - Composition, in painting or three-dimensional form depending on subject (25 Marks), Part III - Portfolio Assessment, built up over the year (20 Marks). • Evaluation: All three practical parts are assessed on the spot, jointly by an internal and an external examiner. Practical Paper Structure (70 Marks):
• Part I - Nature/Object Study or Still-Life (25 Marks): Students draw/render a set of objects or a still-life arrangement given on the spot, testing observation, proportion, and rendering skill.
• Part II - Composition (25 Marks): A composition on a given theme, executed in the student's chosen medium (painting) or three-dimensional form (sculpture), assessing originality, composition sense, and technical execution. • Part III - Portfolio Assessment (20 Marks): A body of work built through the year, expected to include nature/object studies, compositions, at least one artwork inspired by Indian Folk Art, and an original work in the student's own style.
