A layer of tar and bitumen was used to make it water tight. Area was plastered by bitumen which prevented water seeping away . There are two flights of steps on either si-de of the Great Bath. The water for bathing was probably drawn from wells, that was drained out through a proper drainage sys-tem . It was used only on special occasion.
