b) “The extra food prepared by the leaves is stored in the form of starch”. Name 2 leaves and 2 roots which store food.

Ans. Leaves- spinach, lettuce, cabbage, mint (any2 0.5+0.5)

Roots- carrot, turnip, radish(any2 0.5+0.5)

c) How is cactus plant able to survive in deserts?

Ans. Leaves reduced to spine to prevent water loss. Stem green and fleshy. (2 points 1+1)

d) Many places in India are facing a problem of floods or flash floods. Which human action is responsible for this? What value do you learn from it?

Ans. Deforestation(1). We should not cut trees.(1)

e) The pitcher plant has chlorophyll. So, it can prepare its own food. Then why is it carnivorous in nature?

Ans. it grows in a soil that is poor in minerals. So it traps insects for nutrition.(2)

b) “Tape grass is an underwater plant i.e. it remains completely submerged in water”.

1. Mention its two special features that help it to live underwater.

2. Why are such plants grown in aquariums?

c) i) Write any two safety rules that should be followed in kitchen to prevent fire.

ii) What first aid would you administer in case a person’s clothes catch fire? Why?

Ans. Wear cotton clothes/do not store inflammable substances/turn-off the gas stove (1M for any 2pts)

ii)Ans. Roll him in a blanket(1) or thick cloth to cut-of the air supply and put out the fire.(1)

d) Look at the picture showing three layers of a tooth and identify A, B and C. Write one special feature of each layer.
