CHAP- FUN WITH MAGNETS
CHAP- AIR AROUND US
SECTION-A
1. Define Optical medium
2. What are Magnetic keepers?
3. Answer the following questions on the basis of your understanding of the following
paragraphs and related studied concepts : The burning of fuels such as coal, coke petroleum products, wood, etc produces carbon dioxide, water vapour, and smoke and heat energy. The smoke contains carbon particles and some harmful gases, which can cause air pollution. So in big factories where the above fuels are used, tall chimneys are provided. These chimneys carry the harmful gases and smoke to the upper layers of atmosphere and prevent pollution of air to some extent.
a) What harmful products are formed by the burning of fuels?
b) Why do factories have tall chimneys?
c) What does the smoke coming out from the chimneys of factories contain?
