SUMMARY
1. A fraction is an equal part of a whole or a collection.
2. Equivalent fraction means the same amount.
3. The fractions are equivalent if the cross products are equal.
4. A fraction is in the lowest term if the only common factor of the numerator and denominator is 1.
5. Fraction with numerator 1 is called a unit fraction.
6. Fractions having same denominators are called like fractions.
7. When numerator of a fraction is greater than or equal to its denominator, it is an improper fraction.
8. When denominator of a fraction is greater than its numerator, it is a proper fraction.
9. When we combine a whole number with a proper fraction, we get a mixed number.
10. To compare unlike fractions, we first convert them into like fractions and then compare them.
