1. People do not have a choice about which family or community or country they are born into. These kind of identities are called ascriptive Identities; ie, they are determined by accidents of birth and do not involve any choice on the part of the individuals concern.
 
2. There is a vital difference between the pre capitalist conquest and that of the British colonialism which was capitalist in nature. The Pre capitalist conquers benefited from the domination by enacting continuous flow of tribute without actually interfering with the economic base of the country.
 
3. Capitalism is an economic system in which means of productions are privately owned and organized to accumulate profit within a market system.
 
4. Officials reports show that the colonial Govt. used unfair means to hire and forcibly keep labourers to work in the tea plantations. The kcolonial administration used harsh methods and enacted penal laws through labourers to work for their tea gardens in Assam. They saw to it that all the law benefited the planters and strict punishment was meant out on the laboures for non- fulfillment of their contracts.
 
5. To facilitate the smooth functioning of its rule, colonialism introduced a wide array of changes in every sphere, be it legal or cultural or architectural some of these changes were deliberate, while some took place in an unintended way. Eg: Western education was introduced by capitalism and economic system that could ensure them the greatest profit.

1. It is based on birth and belonging rather than on qualification.
2. Feel a sense of deep security and satisfaction in belonging.
3. People react emotionally or even violently.
4. Community feeling is that they are universal.
5. It leads to conflict as one feel his/her community is better than others.
6. It is hard for people of either side to therefore compromise and understand that they both are wrong.
